The Atlantic region sales increased by almost 39 percent, the Quebecois region jumped up 15.5 percent, while Ontario and the Western regions grew by 35 percent and 13.4 percent resepectively.

The Subaru Outback and Impreza also had strong showings, with 841 units and 805 sold units respectively. EyeSight Technology Continues to Impress

Posted by Subaru of Niagara

Apr 16, 2015 5:00:00 PM

We’ve talked about our Subaru EyeSight technology before, and we’re going to again right now. Australian researcher, Canstar Blue, has given Subaru an innovation excellence award for EyeSight.

This new-generation safety system is being recognized all over the world, and this is just the latest in awards and recognition for the Subaru-patented technology.

Stereo cameras mounted at the top of the windshield, capture real-time images of the road ahead. This is a great asset to the driver who, as you know, is prone to miss things on the road or cars breaking up ahead of them. These cameras help the car and driver react to these unfortunate situations and help prevent accidents and impact damage to your vehicle. Need we mention that it is also helping reduce insurance premiums?

Occupant safety has and will always be a top priority for Subaru, and since EyeSight technology was released in 2012, Subaru has taken home awards and high scores from the IIHS here in North America, and even scored a perfect 6-point rating in Front Crash Prevention (FCP) tests.

With driver distraction being one of the main causes for accidents on the road, Megan Doyle, Canstar Blue’s General Manager, said: “Subaru’s EyeSight could help prevent some of the needless collisions that occur on our roads every day. Subaru has created what is essentially an extra pair of eyes, alerting a driver to potential collisions and helping to mitigate the consequences of them. We applaud Subaru for its innovation and dedication to improving the safety of both road-users and pedestrians.”

If you want to see this technology in action for yourself, all you have to do is stop by Subaru of Niagara, and we will do the rest for you! We cant wait to see you!

Subaru Shows Off Their Viziv Concept to Canada

Posted by Subaru of Niagara

Jan 23, 2015 5:00:00 PM

Last week Subaru unveiled a future generation crossover called the Subaru VIZIV 2 Concept (VIZIV 2) at the 2015 Montreal International Auto Show.

A testament to Subaru’s value “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind” depicted in the Viziv Evolution Concept that was revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2013, the Viziv 2 incorporates revised styling and innovative technology.  Viziv is a term inspired by the phrase “vision for innovation” representing Subaru’s vision of innovation and direction of the brand for the future.

A hybrid plug-in, the VIZIV 2 features a 1.6-litre Horizontally-Opposed direct injection turbo "DIT" engine, combined with a high-torque-compatible Lineartronic (CVT) with one front motor and two rear motors. It includes the new “Independent-rear-motor-driven symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD)” offering impressive control based on road surfaces and conditions.

The VIZIV 2 offers four doors, a change from the VIZIV’s previous two door model, a sporty cabin and can comfortably accommodate four adults.  The design brings together elements of “environmental friendliness and driving performance” or “design and utility”.

On the exterior, the VIZIV 2 sports an hexagonal grille and large circular lights. The core hexagonal shape of the body is also seen in the rear. The combination lights and strong fenders fit in with the overall look of rigidity and density that is characteristic of this vehicle.

Technology and innovation are reflected in the next-generation EyeSight system in the VIZIV 2 which uses stereo cameras to detect traffic conditions for a 360-degree sensing system.

Keep in mind that this is just a concept right now, and a way of Subaru showing its family the way it plans to head in the near future. There's no word when this concept becomes reality, but it is already gaining a ton of fans not only throughout the online world, with auto publication reviews as well.

Keep an eye on the blog and our Facebook page for more news regarding the VIZIV and other vehicles!

A Record Breaking 2014!

Posted by Subaru of Niagara

Jan 8, 2015 4:56:07 PM

We hope you all had a fantastic holidays, we sure did!

December marked the 12th consecutive month (that's right, a year) of record-breaking sales for Subaru Canada. Last December, Subaru Canada sold 2,704 vehicles which is an impressive number in itself. However this past December, the company sold 429 more vehicles for a whopping total of 3,133!

The success of the past month was spread almost evenly among Subaru's star-studded lineup, with the Outback, Impreza, Legacy, and the WRX-STI showing impressive numbers. The Subaru Outback also counted December as its best month ever, with sales up over 80% from last year. It's no wonder the Outback was AJAC's Best New SUV for under $35,000 and a 2015 IIHS Top Safety Pick.

Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of Subaru Canada released a statement saying "As I reflect on 2014, I am pleased to say that this has been a truly impressive year for our brand. Subaru has enjoyed back-to-back sales records over the past 12 months, culminating in the highest annual sales in company history. This could not have been achieved without the passion, commitment and hard work of our strong dealer network. We've also benefited from the recognition of industry-leading heavyweights for Subaru's award-winning safety, value, performance and overall fun behind the wheel."

The numbers are displayed below in a chart to show you the growth between last year and this year (Impressive if we say so ourselves).

Another Set of Eyes on the Road

Posted by Subaru of Niagara

Dec 12, 2014 5:00:00 PM

We all wish we could have another set of eyes sometimes, or even eyes in the back of our head. Well Subaru has thought that too, and that's why Subaru offers EyeSight on all of it's new makes and models. This driver-assisting technology is exclusive to Subaru, and it is a testament to Subaru's commitment to safety on the road. While no camera can prevent collisions or accidents completeley, EyeSight acts as a second set of eyes for you on the road, to assist when you may need it.

EyeSight can assist with parking in tight spaces, or making lane changes in inclimate weather. It will also alert you when you are too close to an object or another car when trying to switch lanes.

For a more in-depth look at Subaru's exclusive EyeSight technology, take a look at their recently released video for it. Come into Subaru of Niagara to try out EyeSight for yourself, and see how you can make your ride a safer one!

Survival of the Fittest

Posted by Subaru of Niagara

Nov 28, 2014 5:00:00 PM

The thing that allows a species to survive is its ability to adapt, and the all-new 2015 Subaru Impreza has proven that it is capable of just that. There is a reason that the Subaru Impreza has been rated top safety picks by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for five consecutive years. The Impreza features a symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive system and a Subaru
2.0-litre four-cylinder Boxer engine, this proved to help the vehicle handle better than expected when it was taken out for a test drive in the snow in the -12°C  temperatures of the Okanagan mountains, where the powerful AWD system showed off its superiority. The Impreza 2015 delivers 148 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 145 lbs.-ft. at 4,200 rpm, and for all of the manual fans out there, all versions of the Impreza offer it.

Keeping with the trend of safety, all 2015 Impreza models have a newly added backing up camera, 2015 WRX-style side view mirrors, front dual-stage airbags, driver knee airbag, front seat-impact airbags and side curtain airbags. Of course there are a lot of features that were kept the same from previous models, however, each model is a step up, integrating the best features of prior successful models, and finding new innovative ways to make them even better.

Subaru Rally Team Canada Continues to be Impressed by the WRX STI

Posted by Subaru of Niagara

Nov 4, 2014 4:00:00 PM

After last month’s strong finish, the Suabru Rally Team Canada was looking for another successful race at the Rocky Mountain Rally, which took place last Friday and Saturday in Invermere, B.C.

The team of Martin Rowe and Nathalie Richard piloted their Subaru WRX STI for only the third time this season, and just like the previous two races, it continued to impress!  The pair of drivers led the team to wins in three stages throughout the rally with no vehicle issues whatsoever. At the end of Friday’s first day of racing, the team was only 40 seconds behind the leaders for the day.

On Saturday, which was the second day of the rally, the team was able to secure wins in three of the final five stages, which put them a mere 30 seconds behind the leaders. However, a couple questionable penalties on the team added 30 more seconds to their time, which was still good enough for a second-place finish and only about a minute behind the eventual winners.

The 2015 Subaru WRX STI rally car is proving to be very reliable and resilient throughout anything the rallies throws at it and continues to get quicker with each race.  Along with the increased vehicle speed, the team is also becoming more comfortable with each other and the WRX STI, bringing positive vibes and general excitement to the entire team. It doesn’t look like a first-place finish is that far away at all.

Driver Martin Rowe was quick to praise the Subaru vehicle after the race by saying “it is only the third rally for the 2015 Subaru WRX STI and we're in a fantastic place – the car is reliable, fast and showing it's pace and potential. From a driver's point of view, the car is amazing - I'm having a fantastic time driving the car and it is now in a place where I can tell the car what to do. We have some stiff competition, but it's not long until we win a rally outright.”

The next rally for the team comes at the end of November in Bancroft, Ontario at the Rally of the Tall Pines. Look for a strong finish once again for the Subaru Rally Team Canada, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on their results!

You can get yourself into a Subaru WRX STI as well. Just come down to Subaru of Niagara and see exactly what Martin Rowe is talking about when he says it’s “reliable and fast”! You won’t be disappointed.
