More Details on the 2016 Subaru Legacy

Posted by Subaru of Niagara

Aug 14, 2015 5:30:00 PM

The 2016 Subaru Legacy’s release is upon us, and there is a LOT to like about this car. Subaru has put a lot of work into refining and retuning the Legacy, and it will surely be a very talked about car when it comes to new vehicles for 2016.

The Legacy comes with one of two Subaru Boxer engine options, a 2.5 litre 4-cylinder and 3.6 litre 6-cylinder, both of which go hand-in-hand to Subaru’s symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive system. The Legacy also comes standard with wiper-linked automatic on/off headlights, which  activate the headlights if the wipers themselves are on for longer than 10 seconds. This is just another safety feature that Subaru prides itself on.

The back-up camera has been modified slightly, to give the user more options as to what guidelines they want to see on the screen, while the keyless entry lock/unlock system has added a chirping noise to let you know your car is indeed locked or unlocked. This last feature is a prime example of Subaru listening to it’s customer’s needs and then attending to them.

The 2016 Legacy Touring Packages (both 2.5i and 3.6R) also add an auto-dimming rearview mirror with Homelink, and a larger clock and outside temperature display. The Legacy 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited packages also received some updates to the 7” infotainment system—which is now Siri compatible for Apple iPhone users! A set of SiriusXM additions are now included with the vehicles, along with a free 3-month basic trial subscription to their service!

Subaru of Niagara will keep you up to date, and we’ll be sure to let you know when the new Legacy is in house!

The Atlantic region sales increased by almost 39 percent, the Quebecois region jumped up 15.5 percent, while Ontario and the Western regions grew by 35 percent and 13.4 percent resepectively.

Results of the Subaru Scavenger Hunt

Posted by Subaru of Niagara

Mar 27, 2015 5:00:00 PM

We recently told you about the Subaru Scavenger Hunt that was taking place at the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto. The Scavenger Hunt was a smartphone application-based game, where participants were encouraged to follow clues hidden throughout the AutoShow. With each checkpoint, participants were asked to answer a series of Subaru-related questions, which were integrated with different social media platforms.  Once a participant correctly completed a checkpoint, they scanned a QR code which confirmed their entry to the contest. Every correct question answered equalled one entry towards to grand prize and daily draws.

Toronto native Satchel Ives was the lucky winner of the grand prize of a 2015 Subaru WRX-STi Sport-Tech Package!  While the 2015 Subaru WRX STi Sport-Tech Package was the grand prize, another 30 people walked away with daily prizes that included things such as Subaru gift cards and Subaru remote-controlled vehicles.

We had a blast at the AutoShow, and can’t wait to see you next year. In the meantime, come in and check out the WRX-STi or one of our many other great vehicles for yourself!

Subaru Shows Off Their Viziv Concept to Canada

Posted by Subaru of Niagara

Jan 23, 2015 5:00:00 PM

Last week Subaru unveiled a future generation crossover called the Subaru VIZIV 2 Concept (VIZIV 2) at the 2015 Montreal International Auto Show.

A testament to Subaru’s value “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind” depicted in the Viziv Evolution Concept that was revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2013, the Viziv 2 incorporates revised styling and innovative technology.  Viziv is a term inspired by the phrase “vision for innovation” representing Subaru’s vision of innovation and direction of the brand for the future.

A hybrid plug-in, the VIZIV 2 features a 1.6-litre Horizontally-Opposed direct injection turbo "DIT" engine, combined with a high-torque-compatible Lineartronic (CVT) with one front motor and two rear motors. It includes the new “Independent-rear-motor-driven symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD)” offering impressive control based on road surfaces and conditions.

The VIZIV 2 offers four doors, a change from the VIZIV’s previous two door model, a sporty cabin and can comfortably accommodate four adults.  The design brings together elements of “environmental friendliness and driving performance” or “design and utility”.

On the exterior, the VIZIV 2 sports an hexagonal grille and large circular lights. The core hexagonal shape of the body is also seen in the rear. The combination lights and strong fenders fit in with the overall look of rigidity and density that is characteristic of this vehicle.

Technology and innovation are reflected in the next-generation EyeSight system in the VIZIV 2 which uses stereo cameras to detect traffic conditions for a 360-degree sensing system.

Keep in mind that this is just a concept right now, and a way of Subaru showing its family the way it plans to head in the near future. There's no word when this concept becomes reality, but it is already gaining a ton of fans not only throughout the online world, with auto publication reviews as well.

Keep an eye on the blog and our Facebook page for more news regarding the VIZIV and other vehicles!

A Record Breaking 2014!

Posted by Subaru of Niagara

Jan 8, 2015 4:56:07 PM

We hope you all had a fantastic holidays, we sure did!

December marked the 12th consecutive month (that's right, a year) of record-breaking sales for Subaru Canada. Last December, Subaru Canada sold 2,704 vehicles which is an impressive number in itself. However this past December, the company sold 429 more vehicles for a whopping total of 3,133!

The success of the past month was spread almost evenly among Subaru's star-studded lineup, with the Outback, Impreza, Legacy, and the WRX-STI showing impressive numbers. The Subaru Outback also counted December as its best month ever, with sales up over 80% from last year. It's no wonder the Outback was AJAC's Best New SUV for under $35,000 and a 2015 IIHS Top Safety Pick.

Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of Subaru Canada released a statement saying "As I reflect on 2014, I am pleased to say that this has been a truly impressive year for our brand. Subaru has enjoyed back-to-back sales records over the past 12 months, culminating in the highest annual sales in company history. This could not have been achieved without the passion, commitment and hard work of our strong dealer network. We've also benefited from the recognition of industry-leading heavyweights for Subaru's award-winning safety, value, performance and overall fun behind the wheel."

The numbers are displayed below in a chart to show you the growth between last year and this year (Impressive if we say so ourselves).

We are looking to make 2015 an even better year, so now is your chance to come into Subaru of Niagara and see why everyone seems to be turning to Subaru! Click below to get started!

Subaru Rally Team Canada Continues to be Impressed by the WRX STI

Posted by Subaru of Niagara

Nov 4, 2014 4:00:00 PM

After last month’s strong finish, the Suabru Rally Team Canada was looking for another successful race at the Rocky Mountain Rally, which took place last Friday and Saturday in Invermere, B.C.

The team of Martin Rowe and Nathalie Richard piloted their Subaru WRX STI for only the third time this season, and just like the previous two races, it continued to impress!  The pair of drivers led the team to wins in three stages throughout the rally with no vehicle issues whatsoever. At the end of Friday’s first day of racing, the team was only 40 seconds behind the leaders for the day.

On Saturday, which was the second day of the rally, the team was able to secure wins in three of the final five stages, which put them a mere 30 seconds behind the leaders. However, a couple questionable penalties on the team added 30 more seconds to their time, which was still good enough for a second-place finish and only about a minute behind the eventual winners.

The 2015 Subaru WRX STI rally car is proving to be very reliable and resilient throughout anything the rallies throws at it and continues to get quicker with each race.  Along with the increased vehicle speed, the team is also becoming more comfortable with each other and the WRX STI, bringing positive vibes and general excitement to the entire team. It doesn’t look like a first-place finish is that far away at all.

Driver Martin Rowe was quick to praise the Subaru vehicle after the race by saying “it is only the third rally for the 2015 Subaru WRX STI and we're in a fantastic place – the car is reliable, fast and showing it's pace and potential. From a driver's point of view, the car is amazing - I'm having a fantastic time driving the car and it is now in a place where I can tell the car what to do. We have some stiff competition, but it's not long until we win a rally outright.”

The next rally for the team comes at the end of November in Bancroft, Ontario at the Rally of the Tall Pines. Look for a strong finish once again for the Subaru Rally Team Canada, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on their results!

You can get yourself into a Subaru WRX STI as well. Just come down to Subaru of Niagara and see exactly what Martin Rowe is talking about when he says it’s “reliable and fast”! You won’t be disappointed.

Winter Isn't Too Far Away!

Posted by Subaru of Niagara

Sep 2, 2014 5:00:00 PM

The Farmer’s Almanac is predicting a worse-than-usual winter this year. They are calling for frigid and wet conditions, and temperatures much colder than last year. Whether you take much stock in the Almanac or not, there are some things you can do to get your Subaru ready for winter driving.

Check Your Anti-Freeze

The car’s coolant system is extremely important in the winter months.  Make sure your coolant system is flushed before the first freeze, and also check the coolant system for leaks.  Be sure to put fresh coolant in as well.

Use Your Garage

If you have a garage, use it! A garage or sheltered area protects not only the paint of your car, but is also a guard against your fluids freezing. if you do not have a garage or carport, you may want to invest in a car cover. While this won’t protect you against freezing fluids, it will protect your paint and windshield.

Check Your Heating System

Be sure that your heater system is working correctly, and nothing is leaking. Make sure the blower works and most importantly, make sure the window defroster is operating.

Windshield Wipers

Check your wipers for cracks or tears in the rubber. If they are worn down, replace them.  Also it is beneficial to change to the wiper fluid that contains anti-freeze.

Snow Tires

In the Canadian winter, snow tires are a great investment. You want to ensure traction when driving on icy or wet roads, and by investing in snow tires, it is just one more step in keeping everybody safe on the road.

Emergency Kit

In the worst case scenario, you may need an emergency roadside kit (including flares, flashlight, an batteries. It also helps to keep an extra warm blanket and some water and snacks somewhere in the car. Ideally, you will never use any of these - but it is better to be safe than sorry.

We are still a few months away from this weather, but it never hurts to get a head start on Mother Nature. Come into Subaru of Niagara and get your vehicle all ready to go for the winter ahead!
