Canadians are recognizing what we at Subaru of Niagara already promote every day, the value and benefits of a Subaru vehicle. Subaru Canada is experiencing unprecedented growth, in fact, this past October sales numbers were our best yet.

Sales across the country bested 15% compared to last year, in Ontario alone, sales grew 17.9%. Canadians are simply falling in love with our vehicles, particularly the Forester, Outback and Crosstrek. Year over year, Subaru Canada is growing, growing into a brand that Canadians trust.

Growth by the Numbers

The Forester made the biggest leap in sales last month, growing over 30% with a total of 1228 vehicles old. The Outback also experienced impressive growth followed by our Crosstrek model with experience a 24.2% growth in sales.

Sales for our WRX/WRX STI model experienced the most growth, increasing 50% from October of last year. Features including it’s race credentials, refined styling and turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine are just a number of features driving Canadians attraction to the model.

Increase in Overall Sales

Canada is not the only country in which the Subaru brand is expanding. The U.S. market is also experiencing growth year over year. However, Subaru will remain a niche automotive company, with annual sales capped at 1 million, to preserve what makes this brand and it’s characteristics special to our customers.

A Message from Subaru Canada president and CEO, Shiro Ohta:

"It is humbling to see such a wide range of our Subaru product portfolio being recognized by Canadians with the amazing job our dealer network is doing day in and day out. The same durability, quality and reliability is built into each and every one of our vehicles equally, as is a dedication to safety, and Canadians are recognizing the benefits that this is able to provide their individual or family lifestyle needs."

Subaru Canada and the Toronto Subaru Club Raise $40k for Charity!

Canadians really love their Subaru’s, and that was clearly on display at the 12th Annual HyperMeeting at Subaru Canada Headquarters, put on by the Toronto Subaru Club (TSC). The TSC is by far the largest performance vehicle enthusiast club of its kind, featuring over 11,000 members from Toronto and the surrounding areas. The 12th Annual HyperMeeting drew a crowd of over 800 vehicles and well over 1,000 people, who were all there to celebrate their shared passion for Subaru ownership.

While the Subaru WRX and STI models were easily the most popular at the event, there was a wide array of other models that Subaru enthusiasts were just as eager to show off (the BRZ was also a big hit). While the event is one for showing off performance cars and the work that has gone into them, it is also a community-based event to help raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, which is Subaru Canada’s and TSC’s charity of choice year after year. This year, a total of $20,000 was raised for the Ronald McDonald House Charities by the Toronto Subaru Club, which Subaru Canada then matched dollar-for-dollar, bringing the total to $40,000.

This annual family friendly event also offered a BBQ, photo booth and various other fun attractions, that made it a hit amongst both old and young alike. A real hit was the Subaru vehicle that was covered in chalk paint, which would eventually become fully decorated!

The community-oriented Toronto Subaru Club hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year, and is a great way for Subaru owners, fans, and enthusiasts to mingle and socialize. With this they are also helping children who are undergoing life-saving medical treatment while staying at the Ronald McDonald House. For more on the TSC, check out their website at

It’s always great to see communities rallying together for a good cause, and this is no exception. A big congratulations to both Subaru Canada Inc. and the Toronto Subaru Club! Way to go!

Subaru recently announced the release of it’s newest performance sedan, the 2016 WRX. The latest model boasts numerous technologies to enhance the driver experience with improved response, sharper handling and superior control.

Starting at $29,995, the WRX is available in three trim levels.  The entry level WRX offers an audio system with 6.2-inch high-resolution touchscreen display, STARLINK smartphone integration, updated steering wheel-integrated controls and a one-touch turn signal.

Stepping up to the WRX Sport Package adds door mirrors with LED-integrated turn signals and the Subaru Rear/Side Vehicle Detection System (SRVD) that features Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Side mirrors feature LED indicators and an audible warning that alerts the driver of vehicles in their blind spot or when changing lanes.

The top level WRX Sport-tech Package ups the ante with new 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels and upgraded suspension. An upgraded audio system features a 7-inch high-resolution capacitive touchscreen display with GPS navigation system, dual USB port/iPod control, auxiliary audio input, SMS text messaging capability and SiriusXM Satellite Radio with a free 3-month trial subscription.

For superior sport performance, the all WRX models are powered by a 268-horsepower 2.0-litre direct-injection turbocharged (DIT) SUBARU BOXER engine, available in a six-speed manual transmission or a sport-tuned Sport Lineartronic automatic transmission featuring smooth shifting and an impressive 8-speed manual shift mode with sharp shifting response.

The 2016 WRX offers a variety of features for all-around safety.  Combining a light body, chassis rigidity and performance, full-time All-Wheel Drive, oversized brakes with high-performance ABS, and a highly advanced multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control system, gives the WRX the best hazard avoidance in its class.

Say Hello to the 2015 Subaru WRX

A few weeks ago at Le Salon International de l'auto in Montreal, Subaru introduced Canada to its new best friend: the 2015 Subaru WRX. That's right, we took our the high-performance model you know and love and made it better than ever. And in March, you'll be able to see it for yourself in the showroom.

Subaru's famous All-Wheel Drive...and then some

It just isn't a Subaru if it isn't equipped with the Subaru symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive system and the WRX is, as always, the true symbol of AWD sport performance. But now, the WRX has a new Active Torque Vectoring system that supplements the AWD system, making handling even more precise and allowing you to take corners with ease. The new technology routes power to select wheels as you take a corner and responds to steering input more immediately. How's that for a new and improved driving experience?

All new engine and transmission

Get ready for a new high-performance 2.0-litre horizontally opposed DIT engine. We're talking improved power delivery and amazing efficiency. The new engine is going to give you improved performance over the outgoing model by producing a maximum 268 horsepower.

And then there's the all-new transmission! This is the first time a manual transmission has been paired with the DIT Subaru Boxer engine, OR you can go with the optional Sport Lineatronic transmission. The new six-speed manual optimizes the gear rations and shifter throw from the outgoing five-speed. What does that mean? Your engine speeds will be kept lower for better fuel economy and a quieter ride. And the new Sport Lineatronic transmission will give you the full potential of the boxer engine when it comes to power, torque and eco-friendliness. You'll love driving it!

Hey good lookin'

This is a sports sedan, and it looks it with aggressive yet refined styling. We reshaped the front end with a nose cone design, hexagonal front grille and hawk-eye headlights and enhanced the rear design with a diffuser-integrated bumper and twin dual mufflers. The new 17-inch aluminum allow wheels in gunmetal grey are pretty slick, too.

All this and Subaru safety too

We don't keep our love for safety a secret. In the WRX we took it to the next level. With the AWD system and a lighter body with the VDC system, you're looking at the best hazard avoidance in its class. Your drive will still be exciting but there's no compromising safety. You also get world-class safety performance in collision tests from the front, rear and sides. And, like all Subarus, the ring-shaped reinforcement frame excels in the small overlap test by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Get more information about the all new 2015 WRX here or watch Subaru of Niagara's showroom to get your first look!
